5000 Volts was a British band, which some disco singles in the 1970s. The group consisted of vocalist Martin Jay and singer Tina Charles. The musicians of the band differed per action.

During the 1970s, the band released several singles. They had no success until radio stations the b-side of their single Bye Love discovered, this was the number I'm On Fire. Then they released this song as such, and the song was a big hit in Europe. It reached the fifth place in the Dutch charts and the song was in Belgium a few weeks at number 1 in the BRT Top 30Germany and Sweden also was in the first place. It reached the fourth place in the English charts. In America took out the number the 26th place.

By Tina's solo career, this publicity got a huge momentum.

The band fell apart after Tina left the band during the German tour.
