Biography[]
Atlantic was started in 1947, primarily as an R&B label, although over time it became a major label with many pop, jazz and rock releases. It became a major in the early 1960s, and was bought by Warner Brothers in 1967. It's one of the major Warner Brothers labels, along with Elektra that make up WEA.
