Auto Rock is a song recorded by Mogwai for their fifth studio album Mr. Beast, which was released on March 6, 2006. The song was written by Stuart Braithwaite, Dominic Aitchison, Martin Bulloch, John Cummings, and Barry Burns, and was produced by Tony Doogan and Mogwai.
The song is built around a piano riff played by Barry Burns, and march-like drums, which slowly builds in volume and intensity. It was, at one point, used as a set opener by Mogwai on their 2006 tour.
Reviews[]
“Auto-Rock” runs over four minutes, at which point it ceases to be a baiting introduction and morphs into a placid cinema that all but holds the audience’s hand through the first few minutes of the album.

"Auto Rock" is sublime, but it is essentially a better executed version of "Moses, I Amn't" from Happy Songs For Happy People, itself a better executed version of the Rock Action cut "Sine Wave."
