Barry White (Galveston, 12 september 1944 – Los Angeles, July 4, 2003) was an American souland disco singer and producer. Both solo and with the orchestrated by him The Love Unlimited Orchestra , he scored several hits.
Barry White was born as Barry Eugene Carter in Galveston, Texas, and grew up in Los Angeles. At the age of 10 he became a member of a gang, and at the age of sixteen years, he was sentenced to four months in prison for theft of Cadillac-tires worth $ 30,000.
White's music career began in the late 1960s, initially only as a producer. His biggest success was set up by Love Unlimited, a women's group with three members, including his future wife, Glodean James for which he the classic Walkin' in the Rain (With the One I Love) wrote.
White had a number of songs written and were looking for a male vocalist to include on. He was eventually persuaded to do this myself, which led to the successful album "I've Got So Much to Give" with the hit I'm Gonna Love You Just a Little More Baby.
His next success was the creation of the Love Unlimited Orchestra. Against all odds it was completely instrumental love's theme a big hit.
White received his greatest successes in the 1970s. In the period of the disco, but also later, he still had several hits.
During a stay in the hospital, where he recovered from the effects of a stroke, died White to a kidney disease.
In 2013, he received a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

- The instrumental love's theme song was used as background music in the sketch The Horny cousin (part of the side) by Kees van Kooten and Wim de Bie, who first was shown on 28 april 1977.
- The song "you're The First, The Last, My Everything" was as "theme-song" used in the character John Cage, from the successful television series "Ally McBeal", which in the late 1990s on the Dutch televisionshowed.
- Barry White is in an episode of The Simpsons to see. In the episode is Barry Wacking Day ' that helps to make the snakes to save the residents of Springfield.
