Black Flag is an American punk rock band formed in 1976 in Hermosa Beach, California. They are widely regarded as one of the pioneers of hardcore punk, known for their intense and uncompromising sound.

Formed by guitarist Greg Ginn, the band went through multiple lineup changes over the years. Black Flag's music combined the raw simplicity of punk with a relentless, driving intensity. They were also noted for their politically charged and socially conscious lyrics.
