Genesis[Edit][]
The Chemical Brothers was in 1989 in Manchester formed where Tom and Ed met during a course of history at the University there. They started together as DJ's, under the name Dust Brothers. They were popular in the clubs with a mix of house and other styles, such as hiphopbreaks. But also elements from punk and rock were settled back in the dj sets.
The first single from the duo, Song to the siren, was a small success in the scene. The now graduate Dust Brothers moved to London, where she two new singles (14th century sky and My mercury mouth) shots. Of that first ep was the number Chemical beats the big break. They were enjoying increasing popularity and was due to more remix work for Primal Scream and The Prodigy Voodoo People , namely of the single.
In 1998 they released the mix album, Brothers gonna work it out from. The album consisted of only five tracks, which again from different mixes of tracks existed.
Breakthrough to large audience[Edit][]
In 1995 the duo had to change their name for legal reasons. Their original name (The Dust Brothers) they had chosen from tribute to an American producentenduo. After also the Dust Brothers U.K. suggestion was rejected, they decided to call themselves The Chemical Brothers . The band, however, was already so well known that they inflicted little damage. The first album, Exit planet dust was a success, especially thanks to the breakthrough-cult success "Leave Home". The album consists of two parts. The first part is stirring big beat and the second part more quiet listen music. On the album they started with the tradition to rock singers to do a guest contribution. Tim Burgess of The Charlatans was the first that got the honor. Also a singer Beth Orton is told. When the album in stores was the music press lyrical. The Chemical brothers were next to the dance audience also embraced by the rock audience[1]
Oasisfrontman Noel Gallagher was so impressed with the album that he recorded a single with The Chemical Brothers: Setting sun. Also if The Chemical Brothers for the Knebworthconcert of Oasis are. The singleSetting sun was the first harbinger of Dig your own hole. On this album is the sound even harder and firmer. A guest are Quincy Jones and Mercury Rev. It was an even bigger success than its predecessor and sold two million times. Also the single Block rockin' beats grew into a classic. The Dutch music channel TMF used the song for years as a jingle.
Shift to different style[Edit][]
When the bigbeat hype in 1999 still was working, said the duo the sound goodbye with the album Surrender, which more influences from house and techno are heard and reduced considerably the number of breakbeats is. Hey boy, hey girl became the biggest hit that the two had until then and ascended even the charts. In the video clip to see those people only if a woman is running frames can see walk. Also, the video clips of Let forever be and Out of conrol were arranged on the music channels.
With the fourth album Come With Us seemed the Chemical Brothers more back to the underground to target, and that album was also commercially than less of a success. The exception was the quiet song Star guitar.
Success producers[Edit][]
They experienced a comeback with the fifth album from 2005, Push the Button with the big hit "Galvanize" that they shots with rapper q-tip of A Tribe Called Quest. The number grew to one of the playing relaxing sounds of that year. Believe also became a hit.
Two years later they were back with We Are the Night, on which the band Klaxons and Lightspeed champion guests. This album also had a strong single. Do it again, with Ali love, was the biggest hit that the duo made. Already, the Group also began to get criticism that the albums very regularly formula to get started. That bothered them a Grammy Award for best dance music groups within it.
Furtherappeared In 2010. This was new ground. No guest contribute more and a less accessible sound. All tracks were video clips created by Adam Smith and Marcus Lyal. The eight clips form a kind of film series.Hits brought the album not on.
