Christopher Maurice Brown, is an American singer and songwriter from Tappahannock, Virginia.
Early life[]
Chris Brown was born on May 5, 1989 in the small town of Tappahannock, Virginia, to his mother Joyce Hawkins, a former day care center director, and his father Clinton Brown, a corrections officer at a local prison. His older sister Lytrell Bundy, works in a bank.
Career[]
He got discovered in 2002 when he sang at a gas station where his father worked at the time. Chris started out his career as a rapper, but later as a singer. In 2004, he adapted "C-Syzle" as his stage name. He auditioned in front of Antonio "L.A." Reid, the CEO of Island Def Jam. L.A. wanted to sign him, but Chris decided not to sign the contract by Def Jam, but wanted to get signed by Jive Records in 2004 instead.
He got dropped out of high school in 10th grade in 2005 and released his debut single, "Run It!" on June 30 of that same year. His self-titled debut album was released few months later on November 29. The album was a commercial succes and sold over three million copies worldwide.
