Matthew J Booth, known professionally as Bad Valentine is an American independent singer, songwriter and producer who was born and raised in Maine. Booth started making music in 2016, and began releasing his songs in July 2019 under his former stage name, DR. SINIST3R.

History[]

2019: Debut EP and non-album singles[]

His first public body of work came out in August 2019. He released two songs titled "Faces in the Dark" and "See You Soon" in July and August 2019. Both of the tracks appeared on his debut EP which was released on August 12, 2019. The EP was titled I am Doctor SINIST3R and featured five tracks altogether including the previously released singles. Over the next few months he released a series of non-album singles, one of them was titled "Apocalypse". It became his most streamed song at that time.

2020: Hiatus and All I Need[]

He then went on a temporary hiatus from music and social media. All of his profiles went dark. In January 2020, he returned to social media saying that he had new songs to release. He had spent majority of his hiatus working on his next project. In March 2020, he released "Can't Stop Hurting". This was his first single in several months and it served as the lead single for his upcoming mixtape. The song also features production from Eddie B and CapsCtrl. The second single was released in June and was titled "Better Off". Booth had been teasing this song for several months and was originally going to release it in May, but it got postponed to June. The final single was released August 7 and was titled "Back To You". For 5 months it remained his most streamed song. His debut mixtape All I Need was released on August 21. The tape was 10 tracks total including the three singles released earlier. The entire project has several producers on it such as Zach Sutton, CapsCtrl, Eddie B, and several more. There is only one vocal feature and it is from Arina. A remix for "Better Off" was released in mid September.

2021: Timeless and Remember the Better Days[]

On November 6, 2020, he announced that the title of his next single was "Can’t Say That I’m Sorry". It was released on December 11 on streaming platforms. In December of 2020, all of his previous Instagram posts were deleted and he began posting teasers on his page. The teasers were for an upcoming project titled Timeless. The EP was released on January 15 which included the previously released single "Can’t Say That I’m Sorry".

At the end of January he started teasing new music and said that he was writing his sophomore album. He posted on his Instagram story that he would be changing into a pop punk and alternative rock sound for his future projects because he had formed a passion for the punk genre after growing up listening to it. In mid February the album title was revealed to be Remember the Better Days. One day later, he announced the first single “See U Again” which was released on March 12. The album’s second single "No More Me" was released on April 30th. A music video for the song is supposedly in the works, however it has yet to be released. The album was fully released on July 16, 2021.

2022 - present: Nothing Else Matters & Upcoming 3rd album[]

As of early January 2022, Matthew hadn’t dropped any new music since his album in July, however he had confirmed a new EP titled Nothing Else Matters would be coming sometime this year. He confirmed it along with the announcement of the first single "Happy Again" which was released on January 21. A couple weeks later he took to social media to announce that Nothing Else Matters would be coming out on May 13th. The final single “Just Another Memory” came out April 15th.

Almost immediately after the release of Nothing Else Matters, Matt announced that he was already working on his third full length album which is set for an early 2023 release. On the 9th of September 2022, he released the first single from the album titled “Our Favorite Punk Songs”. The second single “Inside” came out on November 4th. Not long after releasing the second single, he revealed that the album will be titled “Sad Together” and will be coming out April 7th of 2023.
