EMI Records Ltd. (also known as EMI Music) is a British record label owned by Universal Music Group. It was founded by the music company of the same name in 1972 as its flagship label, and launched in January 1973 as the successor to its Columbia and Parlophone record labels. EMI is one of the four biggest record companies with a market share around 70 percent.

Biography[]

One of the big four labels, EMI has abosrbed many, many labels. It was started in 1931 from a merger between two other record companies. In the 1950s, they bought Capitol. A list of the labels they own is:
