Biography[]
Eminem was born in St. Joseph, Missouri and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He began rapping at an early age and gained recognition in Detroit's underground hip-hop scene. His debut album, Infinite (1996), struggled commercially, but his breakout second album, The Slim Shady LP (1999), brought him mainstream fame. Produced by Dr. Dre, it earned him his first Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.
Eminem's subsequent albums, including The Marshall Mathers LP (2000) and The Eminem Show (2002), became cultural phenomena and achieved Diamond certification. Known for his alter ego Slim Shady, his lyrics often explore personal struggles, societal issues, and satirical themes.
In addition to his solo career, Eminem is a member of the group D12 and one-half of the duo Bad Meets Evil with Royce da 5'9". He has also ventured into acting, starring in the critically acclaimed film 8 Mile (2002), which earned him an Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Lose Yourself".
