Erotic Liquid Culture, previously known by the frequently used moniker Crush, were an American hard rock band that emerged from the heavy metal band Crimson Glory.[1][2]
History[]
Following a brief tour in support of their third album Strange and Beautiful with vocalist David VanLanding filling in for their original singer Midnight,[3] the remaining members of Crimson Glory – guitarist Jon Drenning, bassist Jeff Lords and drummer Ravi Jakhotia – relocated to Phoenix, Arizona where they formed the band Crush with vocalist Billy Martinez. This newly formed group first recorded an eight-track independent cassette in 1994[4] before releasing a 14-track CD through Paradigm Records one year later.[5]
Shortly after, the group parted ways with Martinez and reunited with David VanLanding, changing their name to Erotic Liquid Culture. In 1996, Erotic Liquid Culture released a 10-track debut album through Quadra Records in the UK.[6] Though the group went on hiatus following the reunion of Crimson Glory and the recording of their fourth album Astronomica, for which Billy Martinez and David VanLanding contributed respectively lyrics and backing vocals,[7][8] Erotic Liquid Culture inked a deal in 2004 with Viastar Holdings Inc. following their acquisition of Quadra Records to re-release their album in North America with four additional tracks in February of that year but this ultimately did not transpire.[6]
In 2015, David VanLanding was killed in a vehicle collision, effectively ending any and all plans there might have been for a reunion.[3]
