Fine Young Cannibals (also called FYC ) was a British band that especially in the second half of the eighties some big hits scored. The band consisted of Roland Gift, David Steele and Andy Cox. The band's name was derived from the film All the Fine Young Cannibals, with Natalie Wood and Robert Wagner.

The band was founded in Birmingham in 1984 by Cox and Steele, ex-members of The Beat. Looking for a singer (following a call on MTV) they came out at a local actor Roland Gift, from Hull who as a singer/saxophonist of ska band Akryklykz at The Beat (but also The Specials and Madness) in the program allowed during the 2 Tonecraze and a formed in Chicago, Illinois.
FYC were on the debut album the hits Johnny Come Home, Blue and Suspicious Minds, an Elvis-cover with the participation of Jimmy Sommerville. In 1987 scored FYC again with a cover; Ever Fallen In Love byThe Buzzcocks.
Because the Gift in this period busy with acting jobs (Sammy and Rosie Get Laid), Cox and Steele the dance project Two Men, A Drum Machine and a Trumpet; This was such a success that they also were asked by other artists (including Wee Papa Girl Rappers and Pop Will Eat Itself).
It was not until the end of 1988 appeared a new FYC-plate; The Raw and the Cooked with the hits She Drives me Crazy (# 1 in both England and the United States), Good Thing (already in 1986 included) and I'm Not The Man I Used To Be.
In 1990 took FYC Love For Sale for the Red Hot and Blue album on which artists recorded songs by Cole Porter . Then came the Group grind to a halt because Gift preferred to his acting career and moved to New Zealand for some time.
In 1996 came FYC again together to The Flame (a sequel to I'm Not The Man) for the hitverzamelaar The Finest; previous successes, however, were not matched.
Gift took the group name over and brought in 2002 and two solo albums from 2010 . In 2012 he conferred his cooperation at the Specials- Specialized tribute album and he appeared in the pre-recorded new year's Eve special of Jools Holland who invited him then as a guest singer in his tour. Gift gave a number of concerts in 2014 under its own name.
