Foo Fighters is an American rock band formed by musician Dave Grohl in 1995.

Band Biography

Following the death of Kurt Cobain and the conclusion of the band Nirvana, drummer Dave Grohl started Foo Fighters as a one-man project. The name was taken from World War II, when the term foo fighters was used by allied aircraft pilots to describe UFOs and other unexplained phenomena in the sky. Although Grohl originally intended this to be a solo project, he recruited several musicians for his first live tour and the Foo Fighters have had a revolving cast of official members ever since. The band has recorded 7 studio albums, 3 EPs, 4 video albums and 28 singles.
