Gene Kelly, born Eugene Curran Kelly ( August 23, Pittsburgh, Beverly Hills, 1912 - February 2, 1996) was an American actor, dancer, singer, film director and producer.
Gene was born as the third son of James Kelly and Harriet Curran. He went to the University of Pittsburgh and then went to Broadway. His first piece was in 1938 and was called Leave It to Me. From 1942 he started in movies to play. His most famous film is Singin' in the Rain (1952). Gene died on 2 February 1996 in Beverly Hills after a stroke.
In 1952, he received an honoraryOscar for his entire work.
