Good Kid is an indie rock band hailing from Toronto, Canada, known for their energetic sound, catchy hooks, and video game-inspired aesthetics. The band’s origins trace back to the University of Toronto, where founding members Jacob Tsafatinos and Michael Kozakov began collaborating musically. Their shared interest in upbeat, melodic rock led to the early development of the band's sound. As their vision expanded, they brought in drummer Jon Kereliuk, vocalist Nick Frosst, and guitarist David Wood, solidifying the lineup and setting the stage for their future releases.

History[]

Early Years[]

Good Kid debuted with their first single "Nomu" on October 13, 2015, followed by singles like "Atlas," "Witches," and "Tell Me You Know." Their self-titled EP, Good Kid, was released on June 15, 2018, further solidifying their unique indie rock sound.

Explosion In Popularity[]

In 2020, Good Kid gained popularity within the Fortnite community, with their music being featured on the game's in-game radio, which helped expand their fan base. In late 2023 to early 2024, their cover of "From the Start" by Laufey went viral on TikTok, sparking comparisons between the two versions. During this time, Good Kid also announced that their music is DMCA-free, which led to notable Twitch streamers, like Ludwig, playing and discussing their songs to large audiences.

Even More Music[]

Good Kid continued their momentum with the release of "First Rate Town" in January 2023 and announced a concert tour. Their latest EP, Good Kid 3, released in April 2023, marked the end of an era for the band, showcasing some of their earliest compositions.
