Genre Description[]

Gospel is a form of music that came out of the African-American churches of the 1930s. While gospel as a genre is often thought of as being a black genre, there are many white gospel singers as well, typically from the Country music tradition. Aside from its religious themes, Gospel is often distinguished by its heavy use of vocals and vocal arrangements, and often some aspects of soul, which came from the Gospel tradition. Gospel records are still selling strong today.
