History[]

Grand Royal was the record label started by the Beastie Boys after they left Def Jam and signed with Capitol Records. It started out as the magazine/zine by the Beastie Boys, and turned into a label. After mounting debts, the label and infrequently published magazine folded in 2001. Many of the Grand Royal albums have gone out of print, though some have gotten reissued on other labels, though typically not Capitol Records-owned labels, Beastie Boys aside.
