Genre Description[]
J-Pop is on its face just that -- Pop that is Japanese. However, since it IS from a different culture, there're differences between American Pop and J-Pop. J-Pop tends to be a bit sugarier and more bubblegum than most american Pop -- a close analog to a band that made it big in the US is Aqua. Lyrics tend to be a mixture of english and japanese (perhaps 80-90% Japanese, with the odd English word, line or sometimes even chorus thrown in, seemingly to non-Japanese listeners, willy-nilly). As with Pop music, though, J-Pop is a blanket term and can include things like J-Rock and Indie J-Pop.
