Creedence Clearwater Revival[Edit][]

Tom Fogerty and his brother formed a band in El Cerrito, California, at the end of the fifties, as Tommy Fogerty and the Blue Velvets. The name was, through the record label that wanted to contract them (Fantasy), changed to The Golliwogs in 1964.

In 1968, the band released their first album under the name Creedence Clearwater Revival. In 1967 the band had adopted this name. They were under other covers including Susie Q and I Put a Spell on You, which were their first hits. This was followed by many hit singles including Proud MaryFortunate SonUp Around The Bend,Green RiverDown On The CornerTravelin' BandLookin' Out My BackdoorBad Moon Rising and who'll Stop The Rain.

By tension between them left Tom after the sixth album Pendulum. The other band members wanted more influence in the compositions and execution, since Fogerty was the determining factor. This experiment lasted one album, Mardi Gras, and the group went in 1973 apart.

Solo[Edit][]

Fogerty subsequently released some solo albums. In 1973 he brings Blue Ridge Rangers with country-covers, in which he plays all the instruments themselves. In 1975 heJohn Fogerty brings out where among other Rocking All Over The World on State, that later will be a big hit for Status Quo. Meanwhile, with Fantasy Records on the hoary old chestnut Fogerty royalties of his CCR songs. Centerfield In 1985 comes from. This is going to be a success in the us. On this album is the song The Old Man Down The Road. Record company because this number too much Fantasy Fogerty would seem like CCR Run Through The Jungle . Fogerty to play songs for the process by the WINS in court. Hereby he knows to convince the judge that it is indeed a different song is. But the possibility of a possible reunion is forever lost, such as Fogerty in interviews emphasized. In 1986 came the album "Eye of the Zombie ' out, which was received poorly by critics. Hereinafter referred to as the long time back from Fogerty pulled itself for music world. In 1993, Creedence Clearwater Revival in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame included. Fogerty refuses to act with his former colleagues during this ceremony and plays some CCR numbers together with Bruce Springsteen. Fogerty comes only in 1997 with a new album, Blue Moon Swamp and is crowned with a Grammy Award. In 1998, the live album Premonition that he regain his old CCR songs performer. In 2004 the album Deja Vu (All Over Again) released. In the meantime, Fogerty and Fantasy Records reconciled with each other, when Fogerty again the opportunity to pick up his old repertoire. The reason is that Fantasy is sold and the new management the case with Fogerty arranges. In 2006, under the label of Fantasy a compilation album released by CCR songs and songs from Fogerty itself, called "The Long Road Home". John the Songwriter[Edit][]

Who'll Stop The RainIn songs like, Have You Ever Seen The Rain delivers Fogerty Fortunate Son and criticism of the Viet Nam war. Hence this music features prominently in the popular television series Tour of Duty. With the album Deja Vu (All Over Again) -criticism of the Iraq war and delivers Fogerty points to the equation (Deja Vu) with the Viet Nam war.

Many songs are about the deep South of America. Fogerty knew this part of his country only from stories, which he took as a child eagerly to, as he in a suburb of San Francisco was born and raised. The mysterious of the Marsh country inspired him to songs like Walking On The WaterGreen RiverBorn On The BayouBad Moon Rising and It Came Out Of The Sky. Fogerty sings here with an exaggerated ' Southern ' accent and often wears a lumber shirts.

It has been rumored that with Proud Mary huanna mari (y)is meant. Fogerty himself states that the story revolves around a steam boat and that he often puts words and texts in a row because they sound good and not always have a story to tell. So is Willy and the Poor Boys, the name of a CCR album and a song from Down On The Corner, based on Winnie the Pooh. This shows so that Fogerty are not always used for an underlying message texts.
