Troy Matthew Solomon, better known online as Lord Troy and formerly ABearNamedTroy, is an American singer-songwriter from Florida. Troy started out as a social media influencer on Instagram under the username ABearNamedTroy in 2012 after coming out as gay and discovering the "bear" community.
Troy has released 4 stand-alone singles under the name ABearNamedTroy, which featured a fun pop sound with comedic lyrics. In July 2020, Troy changed his stage name to Lord Troy and has released ten stand alone singles, shifting to a more mature sound and exploring other genres such as country and rock.
Early life[]
Troy was born in South Florida and grew up with a brother. He travelled between Florida and Pennsylvania during his middle school years. He graduated at Syracuse University in 2011 and moved to Los Angeles that summer. During that time he worked as a production assistant for the daytime medical talk show The Doctors and as a transcriber for shows including The Apprentice USA, Hell's Kitchen, and Survivor.
Career[]
Troy began his musical career after gaining a popularity on Instagram under the name "ABearNamedTroy", where he shares his posts about body positivity. His first single "Thicck" was released in 2018 and is about that subject. It remains his most successful song to date, with over 30 thousand plays on Spotify. He released his second single "Jeez", which talks on the subject of toxic masulinity. He released two more singles; "Champagne & French Fries", and "Inspo". Troy performed his first three songs live at Madame's Apple in July 2019, hosted by Chappy.[1] In February 2019, Troy set up a GoFundMe page to fund his debut album, and the goal was reached, raising over $1,500 (with the goal extending to $4,500). Despite this, the album was never made.[2]
In July 2020, Troy changed his stage name to Lord Troy and shifting to a more mature sound and exploring other genres such as country and rock.

Troy met Ian Mofford in January 2016 and married on December 31, 2019.
