Luciano Pavarotti (Modena, 12 October 1935 – died 6 september 2007) was one of the most famous opera singers in the world and considered by many to be the best tenor of his generation.

Youth[Edit][]
Pavarotti was the only son of b Fernando Pavarotti and Adele Venturi, worker in the local tobacco factory. As a child he held more of football than music and his first (local) he gained fame as a member of a local football club.
He first did sing in a local church choir, along with his father, who was crazy on opera and was not undeserving amateur tenor. When this "Rossini male choir" won the first prize in the Llangollen International Singing Competition in Wales, decided the young Luciano to dedicate themselves completely to the music.
Career[Edit][]
His official debut followed on 29 april 1961, when he Rodolfo, one of the great classic tenor roles in Puccini's La Bohème, in the opera theatre of Reggio Emilia. After his initial success in Italy followed engagements inAmsterdam, Vienna, Zurich and London another. In 1965 he made his American debut in Miami , with co-star Joan Sutherland in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor – the beginning of what would become a historic partnership.
His breakthrough at the American public followed seven years later, on February 17, 1972, when he surprised everyone with his seemingly effortless high notes in Donizetti's La fille du régiment to the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Almost from that moment on television appearances were the order of the day.
Pavarotti won numerous Grammy Awards during his career on hold and he mainly played hip-hop-influenced in Platinum and Gold records. For the general public, he was a real world star when his performance of the aria 'Nessun dorma' from Puccini 's Turandot was used as theme song of the football World Cup 1990. In the subsequent years 90 was Pavarotti better known thanks to its well visited open-air concerts. His televised concert at Hyde Park in London was the first concert in the history of the park with classical music and had an attendance of nearly 150,000 people. In June 1993 , more than 500,000 listeners gathered for his concerts on the Great lawn of Central Park in New York, while millions via the television. In september of that same year he sang at the Eiffel Tower in Paris for an estimated crowd of 300,000 people.
His most famous appearance is that of the three tenors: Pavarotti along with Plácido Domingo and José Carreras. The images and videos from the concert surpassed in sales figures that Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley and the Rolling Stones.
Pavarotti last sang in public when he was on 10 February 2006, at the opening of the Olympic Winter Games in Turinthe Italian, his favorite aria 'Nessun dorma' performed.
Film and television[Edit][]
Pavarotti with one-time trip to the world of film, a romantic comedy titled Yes, Giorgio (1982), was put to the sword by the critics outright. In July 2006 was at Pavarotti pancreatic cancer found. He underwent surgery and further performances in that year were suspended for the benefit of his recovery [1] .
During the summer of 2007, the singer, on vacation in his villa on the Adriatic coast, breathing problems have gotten. Since his operation from 2006 underwent the tenor five chemotherapy treatments [2]. Because his condition further deteriorated by the end of the summer, he was hospitalized again in early August where he on August 25, after a series of investigations, weather was fired [3]. From then on, he was at home, in the Northern Italian Modena, by family and friends cared. In early september 2007 it was announced that his condition, which was described as "very serious", rapidly declined. [4]
Approximately at the same time the Italian Government made known that Pavarotti had been awarded a special, first new award for its unmatched promotion of Italian culture. "This prize fills me with joy and pride", according to the Italian news agency Ansa Pavarotti with reaction to it have been.
On 6 september 2007 , he died and left his management the following press statement reading:
- "It is with huge sadness that the following statement is issued by Terri Robson, the manager of the legendary Italian tenor, Luciano Pavarotti:
- The great tenor, Luciano Pavarotti, died this morning at 5: 00 is at his home in Modena, the city where he was born.
- At his side were his wife, Nicoletta; his daughters, Lorenza, Cristina, Giuliana and Alice; his sister, Gabriela; his nephews and close relatives and friends.
- The maestro fought a long, tough battle against the pancreatic cancer that eventually killed him. In accordance with the approach that characterized his life and work, he remained positive until he is in the last stages of his illness eventually won had to give. " [5] .

By the evening the singer's body was transferred to the Cathedral of Modena, where he was laid out to the public the opportunity to suggest a last goodbye before his funeral on Saturday afternoon, 8 september2007. Among the hundreds of people, gathered at the church square sounded loud applause as token of appreciation for the maestro. Pavarotti with coffin was brought into the Cathedral by nine carriers and followed by his second wife, Nicoletta Mantovani, after which in the next two days about a hundred thousand mourners the singer the last honour.
The solemn occasion, in the presence of the Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi, was led by Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, Secretary of State of the Vatican, and broadcast live by Italian television as CNN. The event was also broadcast live via the internet.
The blind Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli sang Mozart's Ave Verum Corpus and it was shown a video of the Panis angelicus (Bread of angels), by Pavarotti himself, together with his father, Fernando, in 1978 sung in the same Cathedral.
Pavarotti with family had actually prefer a private ceremony, but by the presence of thousands of admirers, politicians, celebrities like the tenors Plácido Domingo and José Carreras, U2singer Bono, former UNSecretary General Kofi Annan and numerous television cameras had it happen in the long run more like a State funeral.
The stunt team of the Italian Frecce Tricolori air force wrote the green-white-red Italian flag against the rack at the overflight of the Cathedral, where at the end of the memorial service the coffin was carried out of the tenor.
The singer was buried in private in the immediate vicinity of previously deceased family members, including his parents and stillborn son Ricardo, are on a cemetery near his home in Modena.
Later in the day was, prior to the Euro 2008qualifying matches of the Italian and English soccer teams- Israel -against France and a recording of Nessun dorma by Pavarotti played as a sign of respect for the deceased singer.
In October 2007, the opera house in his city of Modena renamed Teatro Comunale Luciano Pavarotti.

Pavarotti has four daughters left behind: Lorenza (1962), Cristina (1964) and Giuliana (1967) (all three of his first wife Adua Veroni, with whom he was married for 34 years) and in January 2003 born Alice (of his second wife Nicoletta Mantovani, who was his personal assistant for 10 years before they married in 2003 with him). Alices Ricardo twin brother died at birth. In april 2002 , the maestro for the first time grandfather. In the same year deceased Luciano's both parents: first its 86-year-old mother Adele Venturi Pavarotti, less than five months after that, followed by his 89-year-old father Fernando Pavarotti.
On October 20, 2007 the Italian newspaper La Repubblica reported that Pavarotti for 18 million euros in debts had left behind. On the other hand, may contain about 20 million in royalties. [6]
