Marilyn Monroe pseudonym of Norma Jean Mortenson; Church baptismal name: Norma Jean Baker, (Los Angeles, June 1, 1926 – died August 5, 1962), was an American actress and singer. She was as a sex symbol icon in the 1950s.

Marilyn Monroe had a difficult childhood. Her mother was Gladys Pearl Monroe, Mortenson, born[1] previously married with John Baker. Norma Jeans mother allowed still to call him Gladys Baker and left Sasha Norma Jean also baptize with this surname. Gladys Baker was admittedly in 1924 married to Martin e. Mortensen, but they all lived separated for Gladys became pregnant. [2] Probably was Norma Jeans father Charles Stanley Gifford. [3] Gifford and Gladys Baker both worked in the cutting of RKO Picturesstudio, where Baker Giffords was subordinate. Gladys Baker was a drug addict and left the education of Monroe over to her friends Albert and Ida Bolender. When Baker after a long time with her daughter went to live in an old Shack, she got a nervous breakdown which makes them completely on hollow slapped (according to eye-witnesses would they climbed on the roof and have cried together as the entire neighborhood). Her last project was something's Got To Give, an unfinished film along with Dean Martin. If the movie was completed, she was the first actress who did a nude scene in a movie.
Monroes marriage to baseball player Joe DiMaggio, whom she married on January 14, 1954, lasted only 7 months (until 27 October 1954), however, they went like good friends apart. DiMaggio brought after Monroe's death in 1962 for 20 years fresh roses to her grave three times a week.

At the end of the 1950s she founded her own production house, and moved to New York. She took classes at The Lee Strasberg's Actors Studio, and got a relationship with playwright Arthur Miller with whom she married on 29 June 1956 . They wanted to deepen and more serious role play. In England, she made The Prince and The showgirlwith Laurence Olivier. The film was a flop, but was afterwards found to be not bad at all. Many find that her best film Some Like It Hot was, opposite Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis, although they also got good responses for her performance in Bus Stop .
Miller wrote for her the script of The Misfits, in which she played opposite Clark Gable and Montgomery Clift, two Hollywood legends. The recordings were a hell, because they took place in the Nevada desert, far from civilization. Monroe rehearsed until late at night with her personal coach Paula Strasberg the text for the next day. Along with her alcohol and drug use led to frequent late or simply not show up. Halfway through the shooting sent the Director John Huston, who also called a SIP OIR was on the menu and sometimes fell asleep during the shooting, her to a clinic to get rid of her addiction. There is much speculation in the media about a possible relationship between Monroe and president Kennedy. With us president John f. Kennedy , she would have had an affair according to these rumors, but after he was fed up with her, it would have carried her over to his brother Bobby Kennedy. When this hair would have dropped, Monroe would have gone through the Ribbon, and an attempt at blackmail have done.
Evidence for the relationship and another cause of death than suicide, however, is never found.
There are reasons for the emergence of these rumors. The general public was ignorant of the drug use in the 1960s by Monroe. Therefore, her death came unexpectedly for outsiders. That gave then also includes diet to speculation about the cause of death. Also the occurrence of Monroe on a birthday of president Kennedy, they sang in May 1962 on a strikingly sultry way Happy Birthday to the president, gave food to the above speculation afterwards.
