Meer sein (engl.: being (an) ocean) ist the sixth single release by German pop rock band Silbermond and the second single release from their second album Laut gedacht (thought out loud).

Background[]

Stephanie said, this song was written while travelling from Berlin to Düsseldorf. The lyrics were influenced by their first big tour and the masses who joined their concerts. Stephanie stated it's "simply incredible when you're standing inf ront of a thousand people and you just see an ocean of people".[1] Further she said, the song reflects a struggle and fight against bad und injustice things and that people only can make it better together.

Music video[]

The music video was shot in Hamburg, Germany and consisted of 50 casted people plus the four band members itselves. These 50 people were the chosen ones from around 1000 casting applications. Stefanie said, that it didn't matter what colour of the skin, where the people are from, if they have children or not. The presentation of "being an ocean" should also demonstrate that "together we can make everything possible", Stefanie said.

The music video was directed by Olaf Heine.
