If you are requesting admin rights, you will have to contact Jeffwang16 since this user has full admin rights. I can only edit protected pages, block people, rollback spam, delete unnecessary pages...etc.
Hi Saviour1981! I just wanted to check in with you and say hello! The Music Wiki is such an amazing resource, we love it! What are your thoughts about this wiki, how it's organized, etc. Do you have any plans to become more involved? No worries if not, we just wanted to touchbase. We're thinking of making some big changes with it while there are no active admins so I wanted to check with you since right now there are no official active admins, you are the closest thing to that right now :)
Yeah, that's right, no active admins. I have applied for admin rights but failed for strange reasons. I'm the most active user in here and i'm always contributing, correcting and improving articles. I'm active in englisch, german, french, russian and italian music wiki. I can put Interwiki Links in here and translating article sto english for here. I really do a lot here and i would be glad if i become Admin or Bureaucrat. Thanks for checking and have a nice evening :)
i didn't because the contributor here at this time doesn't care about everything so it's useless. It wouldn't be fulfilled. As you ca see, they come and go and there are many IP's adding stuff to this Wiki. If i would add a blog, nobody would care about it. But X~Calibur95, one of the Admins, would make me an Admin if he could because he's not often around anymore. I don't know why, it's not my business but i'm really, really interested in this Wiki, to keep it clean and safe. That's all i can say. Strange, the criteria of an english Wiki adoption differs from a German Wiki adoption
Sorry for the hold up. Just wanted to check in and let you know that we've not forgotten about you. We're firguring some things out about this wiki in general. I'll get back to you once we hear more. Happy Thursday.
Hi there! Thanks so much for your patience. We've decided to merge this wiki with the music hub as its mainpage and update the overall look of the wiki. The content will remain the same. We'd love for your imput and to be able to give you some admin privileges if you are still interested. Please let us know what ideas you might have and what you'd like to do as an admin.
Sorry that i didn't answer in time, had some private stuff to do.
First, as an Admin / Bureaucrat i could delete spam and dupes and manage the whole Wiki. Further, i would be an advisory for all users coming up on this Wiki and having questions or need my help.
This way the Wiki is really great but needs maintenance after most of the admins are still on hiatus and nobody knows when hey will return. I would really appreciate to become an admin or bureaucrat. I just need to look around into the musichub because it looks like new territory to me.
Great to hear that you'll be helping out here on the hub. You know all of the content pretty well already, so we appreciate it.
After the merger, the only things that are really different are the design, the navigation and the main page. All three of those things will be managed exclusively by Wikia, so you won't need to worry about those.
We're making a few local adjustments to rights and protection, to keep those elements secure, and then we'll grant you the admin rights. That should be next week sometime. Staff will act as bureaucrats here so we won't be giving out that right.
You can certainly start thinking about what you want to work on first here. Let us know if you have any questions or ideas! We'll also be trying to get more users participating here, so help with that is always appreciated.
Cool, thanks for that. My ideas? Keep providing new stuff, probably translations from other music wikis (i'm Bureaucrat in the german music wiki ^^) and seeing what else can i do. There's always work in here and i do it with pleasure
We really discourage direct copying from Wikipedia. A community should have its own approach to content. Copied content can also harm the search ranking of a site, since Google penalizes a site if there is too much duplicated from elsewhere.
I would like to encourage you to look back at copied content and try to make it more unique to the Music Wiki.
At the very least, you must give proper attribution to the authors of the copied Wikipedia content, per the licensing terms that both Wikia and Wikipedia share. You can do this by adding a template that I created: Template:WikipediaAttribution. I already added this to the soundtrack vinyl article linked above.
We're still happy to have you as an admin here, but please respond and confirm that you understand. Thanks!
First: i save content from Wikipedia that are on deletion log and about to be deleted. If musical articles are deleted, the work of it gets lost.
When i can get admin rights i properly can export with full history to avoid any copyright infringement. Besides this, i also add stuff by myself, not just WP. The idea of Wikia is to stand the own ground, not to be the "little siter" of Wikipedia, i know that.
Thanks for the template. That will make some things here easier. Cheers, mate =)
Congrats on your Music Hub admin status! And thank you so much on your patience with this, we appreciate your persistence.
There is another user, Cörey, we have been talking to that is we’ve made an admin as well. He’s been one of our admins over on Community Central for a while, and also has done work here in the past. We’re really excited to work with you guys on this hub!
Please join us over in the forum on this discussion thread to talk about the work that’s needed, some of Wikia’s goals for the hub, and your ideas for how to get things in shape here!
Going forward, please don't import any further content from Wikipedia. It's not ideal for search engine optimization, generates tons of redlinks, and (as you noted in our earlier conversation about this) we really want Wikia Music to stand on its own with original content when possible.
Also, I've seen a few examples, like Graffiti Bridge (Album), where you've imported a German article. This is not appropriate, since this is an English wikia. Please don't do that anymore.
For now, if you could focus more on cleanup and maintenance, that would be great. Linking out to existing standalone wikias about artists is also ideal. It's even okay to make Wikia Music articles shorter and instead add those links at the bottom. It's also fine to link to an artist's page on the German Music Wiki, or any other language's Music Wiki, but please keep all of the article text in English.
This whole project is still a bit of an experiment for Wikia -- have a hub with lots of content -- and we'll be reviewing things soon to see what the next steps might be. Thanks for your willingness to help so far!
Hey, I'm just wondering, why do some aritcles, such as Lil' Wayne and Nicki Minaj, show up in categories with the Music Wiki logo showing and not their header pictures? It's annoying the crap out of me.
