Genre DescriptionEdit

Born out of the punk movement, post-punk was an attempt to move beyond it, but not in a poppier direction like new wave (though many of the more experimental aspects of early new wave are very similar to post-punk, linking the two genres). Post-punk took many forms, from the ultra-experimental no wave movement to harsh industrial. The genre had a fan in John Peel, who would play a lot of post-punk music on his famous radio show. Post-punk would include lots of influences, and could sound similar to noise, noise-rock or just plain avant-garde.
