Reverend and the Makers are an English rock band from Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Formed in 2005, the band is fronted by Jon McClure, nicknamed Reverend. Reverend and the Makers' debut album, The State of Things, helped them reach fame in the United Kingdom. The album featured their most famous song, "Heavyweight Champion of the World".
Formation[]
In 2005, McClure brought a number of musicians together and formed the band. Like his previous bands, one of the members was co-songwriter Ed Cosens. The band's original line-up featured McClure, Cosens, Dave Sanderson (guitar), Joe Moskow (keyboard), Richy Westley and Laura Manuel, now McClure's wife. Since then, the band has seen many different line-ups.
