Brian Imanuel Soewarno, known professionally as Rich Brian, is an Indonesian rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is known for his viral single "Dat $tick" released under the name Rich Chigga, "Dat $tick" is often mistaken for Brian's first song, however, his first song was released in July 2015, titled "Living the Dream". He would go onto release singles consistently until January 2018, when he changed his name to Rich Brian and announced his debut project, "Amen" was on the way, releasing single "See Me" at the same time. "Amen" would release on February 2, 2018.

Early Life[]

Brian was born on September 3, 1999 in Jakarta. He learnt English from watching YouTube and listening to rap artists like Childish Gambino and Lil Wayne.

Career[]

Brian began to release his own music in 2015 under the name Rich Chigga. In 2016, Brian signed to Asian-American music label 88rising, releasing singles such as "Who That Be", "Seventeen" and a remix of "Dat $tick" featuring Pouya and Ghostface Killah of the Wu-Tang Clan

In 2018, Brian released his debut full length project, Amen. The album had popular songs such as "Cold", "Glow Like Dat" and "Chaos" on it's tracklist. Brian would also be apart of 88rising's "Head in The Clouds" collective album released in July 2018, the album featured Brian's hit song "History". A sequel to this album would release in October 2019.

In July 2019, Rich Brian released his long awaited sophomore album The Sailor, spawning singles "Yellow" and "Kids". The song "Yellow" saw a big difference in Brian's previous work, being a singing ballad, as opposed to the monotone trap music Brian's listeners were accustomed to. The songs "Drive Safe" and "100 Degrees" received critical acclaim, being 2 of the most streamed songs on the album.

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, Brian released single "Bali" featuring Guapdad 4000. Brian would go on to release the E.P "1999", on August 25, 2020.

In 2021, Brian was featured on the hit song by bbno$, "edamame". He also released the single "New Tooth" in the same year.

In January 2022, Rich Brian returns with a surprise EP, Brightside, which featured the single "New Tooth" and the song "Getcho Mans", a collaboration with 88rising labelmate and Indonesian rapper, Warren Hue.
