Riva was a pop-rock band from Zadar, Croatia, then Yugoslavia, in the late 1980s. After forming in 1986, the band appeared on Zagrebfest 1988, Performing with the song “Zadjna Suza” (“Last Tear in Croatian).

They represented Yugoslavia for the Eurovision Song Contest 1989, performing the song "Rock Me" in Serbo-Croatian.[1] The song had won the contest, with a score of 137 points. The song's victory led to international awareness of Yugoslav and Croatian rock. The lead vocalist Emilija Kokić sang the song in English during the winners' encore. Their unexpected win was by far the only time that Yugoslavia won the contest.

During 1991, the band decided to have a hiatus originally planned to be short, which ended up being the end of Riva as members focused on their own personal lives with only very few small reunions taking place between 1993-2016.
