Shakin' Stevens, also known as Shaky (pseudonym of Michael Barrett, Ely, Cardiff, March 4, 1948) is a Wales -based rock 'n' rollsinger. He is the best-selling musician from the United Kingdom of the 1980s.

Shakin' Stevens is the youngest of eleven children. Stevens began his career as frontman of the band Shakin' Stevens and the Sunsets, a rock 'n' roll from the 1950s influenced band. In december 1969 , the band was invited to act for the Rolling Stones to play, giving them the following year resulted in a recording contract withParlophone . Success, however, remained and after seven years of touring and the band left Stevens action. Stevens auditioned for the role of Elvis Presley in the musicalElvis! and got the role, which earned him a recording contract as a solo artist on Epic Records.
In 1980 scored Stevens in England its first hit with Hot Dog; Take One to the Lp which was released that year, the well-known guitarist Albert Lee his cooperation. That same year he also scored with Marie Marie, this song ended up 9 months in the German charts.
In 1981 scored his first international hit with the song Stevens This Ole House (a cover of a hit by Rosemary Clooney from the 1950s). The song reached the number-one position in own country and elsewhere was also a big hit. Other major hits followed with songs like Green Door, Oh Julie, You Drive Me Crazy and Merry Christmas Everyone. Also his album Shaky reached the first place in various international charts.
In 1984 , Stevens tried also in the United States he appears in some TV shows to the single to promote Cry Just A Little Bit , but it has little impact on the u.s. charts, it only comes to the 67th place in the Billboard top 100.
Stevens had another hit In 1984 with the song Teardrops, with Hank Marvin (of The Shadows) accompanied him on guitar. Stevens often makes use of famous session musicians, including drummer Roger Taylorof Queen.
The ballad appeared In 1986 Because I Love You, this single did not have that much in Europe, but in Asia it was a huge hit. Stevens had one number one hit with it in Hong Kong, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. The number is still much turned in karaoke bars.
In 1994 stopped Stevens recording plates. He is still much on, and scored another hit in Denmark with a compilation of his best known songs.
During the millennium concert in 1999 joined Stevens in Cardiff on for 100,000 people. In 2003 gave Stevens a performance in Vienna during the Donauinselfest where more than 200,000 people came to watch his show.
Sony BMG In 2004 brought yet another collector of Stevens in the Danish market: Collectable; This compilation came from nothing on 1 in in the Danish charts and it made Stevens a Platinum plate on; South Africa was also later released in something this collector and also there it furnished a gold record on.
In 2005 , he released a Greatest Hitsalbum, which brought him back into the spotlight. So, he participated in a reality-program, and became his biggest hit This Ole Housere-released, this was linked to the Pink! cover Trouble.
In 2007 a new album brought Stevens, Now Listen, stand next to his own compositions on this album also covers of well-known songs such as Got My Mind Set On You, Baby it's You and I Hear You Knockin'. At the song How Could It Be Like That Tony Joe White takes the guitar solo for his account.
