Oliver Taylor Hawkins (February 17, 1972 – March 25, 2022) was an American musician best known as the drummer for the rock band Foo Fighters. He was also the founder and lead vocalist of Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders, and a member of the cover band Chevy Metal. Renowned for his dynamic drumming, charismatic stage presence, and musical versatility, Hawkins left a lasting impact on the rock music landscape.

Hawkins began his professional music career in the mid-1990s as the touring drummer for Alanis Morissette during her Jagged Little Pill tour. His powerful drumming became a highlight of her live performances and gained him recognition in the rock music scene.

Foo Fighters[]

In 1997, Hawkins joined Foo Fighters as the drummer following the departure of William Goldsmith. His chemistry with frontman Dave Grohl and his high-energy performances became central to the band's identity. Hawkins contributed to every Foo Fighters album from There Is Nothing Left to Lose (1999) to Medicine at Midnight (2021), co-writing many songs and occasionally providing lead vocals, such as on "Cold Day in the Sun" and "Sunday Rain."

Hawkins' tenure with Foo Fighters was marked by numerous accolades, including multiple Grammy Awards, and the band became one of the most successful rock acts of their generation.
