The Association is an American pop group from Los Angeles. They were popular at the end of 1960s . Their best known songs are Along comes MaryCherishWindy andNever my love.

In the spring of 1965 , the seller Terry Kirkman and the marine Gary "Jules" Alexander in Los Angeles the 13-strong formation The Men get to know each other on, after they had in Honolulu. There was, however, soon arguing during a rehearsal and seven members decided to leave the group. However, the six other members wanted to continue as a group. Initially they wanted to call themselves The Aristocrats, but when Terry's wife Judy wanted to look up the meaning of that Word, she found on the same page in the dictionary the word Association. In the end, that the new band name. In addition to The Association existed from Terry and Ted BluechelJules, Brian ColeRuss Giguere andBob Page. Bob, however, was soon replaced by Jim Yester.

In 1967 Gary "Jules" Alexander leaves the group to India to study meditation philosophy . He is replaced by Larry Ramos, the Hawaïaan coming out of The New Christy Minstrels came. However, the success continued unabated. The Windy State in april single of that year 4 weeks on # 1 and also the album Insight out sells well. The second single from the album Never my love is a # 2-hit. Things backward with the success of the group. Only the single Everything that touches you know in 1968 still to come in the Top 10. Jules comes back In 1969 at The Association and is the title song for the film Goodbye Columbus , but that number does not higher of # 80 in the Billboard Hot 100. In 1970 he is replaced by Russ Giguere goes solo and Richard Thompson.

In 1973 , the group broke up after on 2 August 1972 bass player Brian Cole died of a drug overdose . Drummer Ted Bluechel was the only one who make music continued. He stayed with a bunch of other musicians, including Ric Ulskey, under The name The Association action. In the beginning were Jim Yester and Larry Ramos still, but also those hooked up over time. In 1980 there was a reunion of the band and recorded two singles. One of them, Dreamer, came to # 66 in the u.s. charts. From 1983 the group, however, slowly fell apart, because the members there disappeared one by one. Russ Giguere and Larry eventually remained as the only members about Ramos and formed a new group with around 1989 Del Ramos (the younger brother of Larry), Paul HollandDela Paz Gougeon and Bruce Pictor.

The Association still occurs. after the death of Larry Ramos and the resignation of Russ Giguere Ramos, the group currently exists from Del Jordan Cole (the son of Brian Cole), Jules Gary Alexander, Jim Yester and Bruce Pictor.
