The Seekers is a group from Australia coming through folk music inspired musicians, born in Melbourne in 1963 . It was the first Australian rock band with high prices and sales broke in the United Kingdom and the United States .

The Seekers were formed by Athol Guy on bass and Keith Potger and Bruce Woodley on guitar . Later came here ( jazz ) singer Judith Durham with. After some successes in Australia itself, the group had the opportunity to draw on a round the world cruise and onboard entertainers . In 1964 they continued stabbing in England where they were discovered by songwriter-producer Tom Springfield, brother of Dusty Springfield . He produced almost all successful songs and co-wrote many of their hits. The success was mainly due to the combination of Judith Durham's voice, almost close-harmony background songs and their lyrics peaceful. From 1964 came a stream of top 10 albums and singles corridor until 1968 persisted. In 1967 the quartet won the title Australian of the year . Early 1968 Judith Durham gave to the band wanting to leave to start a solo career.After a live performance in the "Talk of the town" they performed for the last time in a BBC broadcast titled Farewell The Seekers . This action was only years later a CD and a video released on the label Mushroom.

In the nineties, the original band members came back together and since they occur with some regularity in Australia. There was an extensive tour in 1993 under the name "The Silver Jubilee Tour" with more than 100 performances. Even then there are performances been, among other things in England in 1994 and 1995 in the Royal Albert Hall 'and' Wembley Arena '. In 1997 a new CD entitled "Future Road".

At the invitation of André Rieu The Seekers played along during a tour of Australia in 2011 by Rieu. In connection with their 50th anniversary in 2012, there was in 2013 an extensive tour in Australia under the title "Golden Jubilee Tour".
