Band History[]
The Sonics were one of the major Garage Rock bands of the 1960s. They had a series of local hits (and even some national ones), and were considered very influential, being covered by acts as diverse as The Young Fresh Fellows, Supersnazz, They Might Be Giants and Belle & Sebastian. Gerry Roslie is often cited as the first white rock'n'roller to scream on the records. They only recorded 3 albums at the time (the last of which is disowned by the band), and a series of singles. A live album was released later, and in 1979, Roslie reformed the band with a different lineup for one record.
