Disturbed[]

A cover of "The Sound of Silence" was released by Disturbed in 2015. The song was included in the album Immortalized, which was released on August 21, 2015. "The Sound of Silence" became a single, which released on December 7, 2015.

In 2011, Disturbed announced that its band would be going on a hiatus. By January 2014, vocalist David Draiman, guitarist Dan Donegan, and drummer Wengren met for dinner and discussed their plans about developing new material for their next album. Bassist John Moyer was not present during the dinner as he was doing other projects. "The Sound of Silence", along with other songs intended for the album Immortalized were recorded at The Hideout Recording Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A music video was released the same day "The Sound of Silence" was named a single, which took shape on December 7, 2015. At first, the original artists, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, who were then known as a duo Simon & Garfunkel, were made unaware about this cover until April 2016. Both Simon & Garfunkel endorsed the cover of the song, becoming enamored the first time they heard it.
