Christopher Baloyi, known as Unqle Chriz (pronounced uncle~chris), is a South African R&B, Gospel and hip hop recording artist.

Early life[]

Christopher was born in Phalaborwa, South Africa to Sydney and Christina Baloyi, and was raised at Makhuva, Limpopo. He is the youngest of three boys.

Music career[]

Christopher started singing at 15, in churches, first with his cousins and then solo. One of his songs was nominated for the 2008 ML FM Awards.[Citation needed] In 2009, Unqle Chriz changed his stage name from Chris B, to avoid confusion with Chris Brown. Kelvin K Chill Harris (Who was the A&R of Krazy Swag Ent), eventually signed Unqle Chriz, but the contract was terminated before Unqle Chriz could release an album. In 2013, Unqle Chriz released his debut EP, Butterflies. In December 2014, Unqle Chriz was one of Cassper Nyovest's opening acts at Europa, Sunnyside, Pretoria. On 2014 December 6, he released a hit single, "Limpopo so beautiful" on iTunes.[1] On 3 April 2015, it was announced that Unqle Chriz was nominated for the F.A.M.E SA Awards.[2]

On 19 May 2016, Unqle Chriz posted on Facebook, a picture of himself holding a placard written My name is Unqle Chriz, I sing R&B, I need R20 000 to shoot a music video, Please help. The picture went viral on Facebook and was shared 317 times, with both positive and negative comments from Facebook fans.

On 1 June, Unqle Chriz teased his single, Pay Me Money as a video via Facebook mentions and got 80 000 + views. Two weeks later, the official music video for Pay Me Money was released on YouTube and got 1600 + views. The song was playlisted on Munghana Lonene FM and it premiered on "3 To 6", Munghana Lonene FM afternoon drive show.
