"Victoria (Dear. Daddy)" is a song by American hip-hop artist b-Rabbit which was released as the fourth official single off of Trials & Tribulations on October 26, 2013. The song is written from the point-of-view of a six-year old girl who is verbally assaulted by her father who also beats her mother. It was released on Make a Difference Day but also during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Background[]
The idea for "Victoria" existed clear back in March 2013 but wasn't fully written until May. Although the family will remain unnamed, a person close to b-Rabbit detailed the strained relationship she had with her father and how abusive he was, especially to the mother and younger sister. After hearing this b-Rabbit quickly began penning a song from the viewpoint of the young girl to try and expose what domestic violence does to a family. Although the song was written in May, it wasn't until August 2013 that b-Rabbit began recording the song.
With very little fanfare the teaser for the music video was released just a week prior to the song's release.
Music Video[]
The official music video teaser was uploaded on YouTube on October 19, 2013 with the full music video being added at midnight on October 26, 2013. It shows a violent relationship between a man and a woman from alternating viewpoints: the woman beating the man and vice versa.
