Why Are We Standing Here is an extended play by the American avant-garde musician Logan Hughes (also known as Shadow Logan Show). It was released on August 7, 2021.

Background[]

Why Are We Standing Here was made mainly full of improvised songs besides the track "As We All Die" being written before the albums release. Speaking of that song, it was the hardest for him to record. He had to record it many times before it came out good.

The song "Playing With Fire and Water" is a reference to an old unreleased song by him called "Fire And Water". Even playing as bit of it at the end of the song. He had the idea to make the extended play after seeing the image that would be used as the cover art.

The songs on the album aren't too long only being from one minute to three minutes. The album as a whole is eleven minutes and thirty-four seconds. "Why Are We Standing Here" is the only song from this EP that Logan has performed live. Every time he plays it live it sounds very different from the original version. This is due to the fact that Logan can't find the original drum beat used for the song, so he uses other drum beats.

The lyrics wrote for the song "As We All Die" were actually originally sent to a friend of his when he was in a tough time mentally. The song is also inspired by "Globular" by The Brobecks. The first song "New York Downtown" is called a demo, even though Logan hasn't made any other versions of the song yet. He had plans to be he hasn't yet. Also the title of the song was inspired / a reference to the song "Front Street" by Will Wood and the Tapeworms. Why Are We Standing Here is also Logan's ninth musical release.

Artwork[]

The cover art shows two skeleton legs standing around a ravioli can inside of a kitchen. The picture was not made by Logan himself but by someone else. It's unknown where the image originated but it's known as a meme image, which is how he found it. The name of the extended play directly references the image. As if it's a question that the skeletons might be asking themselves.
